Jhānas and Emptiness

This program explores training in the meditative absorptions and how they support deepening insights into emptiness. Instructions for meditative absorptions (jhanas) are taught from the lineage of Ayya Khema. Teachings and practices in maturing insight into emptiness are taught from influences in the Thai Forest tradition, with complementary perspectives from the suttas and also Mahayana teachings. Short periods of Metta (lovingkindness) practice will be offered as well. To support deepening practice, participants will check in individually with a teacher every three days.

This program will be offered residentially in Barre; Leigh and Heather will not be onsite and will facilitate and conduct interviews virtually via video conference. In the meditation hall, teachers will offer two video sessions of teaching and guided meditation per day for participants. To support deepening practice, participants will check in individually with a teacher every three days via video, in spaces set up for interviews.
