Located in Barre, MA, and operating since 1976, the Insight Meditation Society (IMS) is a spiritual refuge for all who seek freedom of mind and heart, offering meditation retreats and online programs rooted in the Early Buddhist teachings of ethics, concentration and wisdom. Two IMS founders, Joseph Goldstein and Sharon Salzberg, founded the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies in 1991. The two organizations are affiliated but function independently.
