BESS Foundation Partnership

In March 2023, BCBS hosted a retreat for Dharma teachers focused on the intersection of climate change and Buddhist practice, generously funded by the BESS Family Foundation. BESS supports teachers, facilitators, and dharma leaders in exploring how Buddhist traditions can address today’s interconnected challenges and foster new forms of thought and practice. (David Loy, one of the participants, shared his reflections on the retreat in a Tricycle article here).

BESS will sponsor similar gatherings at BCBS for the next four years.  These retreats aim to nurture a community of ecodharma teachers/facilitators/leaders who can be mutually supportive, learning from and inspiring each other, and create opportunities for deep relationships that can lead to collaborative work.

Following the 2023 gathering, BESS shared some of its initial findings and resources in a freely available online booklet.  Anyone interested in exploring ecobuddhist thought and practices is welcome to explore the booklet here.
