This program explores training in the meditative absorptions and how they support deepening insights into emptiness. Instructions for meditative absorptions (jhanas) are taught from the lineage of Ayya Khema. Teachings and practices in maturing insight into emptiness are taught from influences in the Thai Forest tradition, with complementary perspectives from the suttas and Mahayana teachings. Short periods of Metta (lovingkindness) practice will be offered as well. Participants will check in individually with a teacher every three days to support deepening practice.
This program will be offered residentially in Barre. Leigh, Rachael, and Heather will not be onsite and will facilitate and conduct interviews virtually via video conference. Leigh and Rachael will be the primary teachers for this program. Heather will join the retreat to offer two online sessions on the Emptiness-Awareness practices.
In the meditation hall, teachers will offer two video sessions of teaching and guided meditation per day for participants. Participants will check in individually with a teacher every three days via video to support deepening practice, in spaces set up for interviews.
