Rabbi Dr. Jay Michaelson has taught meditation for twenty years in Buddhist, Jewish, and secular contexts.  He is currently an editor at the Ten Percent Happier meditation startup, as well a columnist for The Daily Beast.  Jay is the author of ten books, including Evolving Dharma: Meditation, Buddhism, and the Next Generation of Enlightenment and The Gate of Tears: Sadness and the Spiritual Path.  He holds a PhD in Jewish Thought from Hebrew University, a JD from Yale Law School, and nondenominational rabbinic ordination.  Jay was a member of the BCBS Board of Directors for six years, and was authorized to teach jhana in the lineage of Ayya Khema by his teacher, Leigh Brasington.
