Since the 1980’s Sherre DeLys' art practice has spanned radio-art, collaborative sound sculpture, installation, and improvised musical performance–while these days it finds expression in her ongoing performative project, The Listening Room. Rooted in the attention to care and appropriateness that underlies each aspect of the Eightfold Path, this one-to-one experience explores empathy as a form of not knowing. Her practice-led PhD examined ways that vipassana meditation can assist artists to tolerate and thrive in the uncertainty of borderless creative processes. Its findings have also informed community mindfulness courses Sherre has developed for advanced cancer patients and human-centred design leaders.
Deepening Practice,
Building Community.
